Kate Middleton Officially Scaling Back on Public Engagements Before Giving Birth

Kate Middleton–also known as Duchess Catherine–has been more committed to public appearances than we would expect any pregnant woman to be, but it sounds as if she’s finally slowing down before welcoming the Royal Baby. According to Marie Claire, “Kate has begun limiting her official engagements. Her most recent appearance at the Buckingham Palace annual garden party could be her last big one for a while.”

Rumor has it that Kate will move out of London entirely and spend the remainder of her pregnancy at her parents’ home in Berkshire. We do know that Kate is booked to officially christen Princess Cruises’ new liner Royal Princess in Southampton on June 13, one month before she’s due. But after that, we may be seeing even less of Prince William’s wife. And right as we heard her speak for the first time!

Although Kate was plagued with especially severe morning sickness early in her pregnancy, the upside of this is that it doesn’t seem to be a drastic order for bedrest related to her health. Instead, she simply seems to recognize the necessity of laying low and focusing all of her attention inward. It’s impressive self-control for someone who has spent close to the last decade with her every move scrutinized. Come to think of it, it probably feels like a nice vacation, too–especially since once the Royal Baby has been born, the media will be clamoring for the first look.
