The Top Halloween Costumes for Kids

Children In Fancy Costume Dress Going Trick Or Treating Smiling To Camera

Trick or treat! Halloween is nearly here and that means it’s costume time! If you’re the mom of a baby or toddler, your little one will look cute in just about anything, especially if it has an animal theme. Once kids hit school age, they often start to prefer costumes of characters in their favorite shows. Here are seven of the top characters you’re sure to have ringing your doorbell this Halloween.

halloween_pokemon1. Anything Pokémon
Pokémon has had a resurgence, thanks in part to the popular Pokémon Go app. From easy-to-identify yellow Pikachu to orange Charizard to their red baseball hat-wearing trainer Ash Ketchum, expect to see a lot of these anime animals collecting candy this Halloween.

2. Anything Star Warshalloween_starwars
The original movies came out 40 years ago, but it’s the recent release of The Force Awakens that’s driving the latest Star Wars trend. Costumes of that movie’s stars Rey, Finn, and dark warrior Kylo Ren are hot picks, and you’ll also see a fair share of droid BB-8s “rolling” down the street. Of course you’ll also see the classic characters like Yoda, stormtroopers, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca… like we said, the kids ringing the bell will be wearing anything and everything Star Wars!

lego3. Lego Characters
It’s been a couple of years since the Lego Movie hit the theaters, but this brand is showing no signs of slowing down in popularity.  There are a lot of Lego Ninjago costume choices available online and in stores, and a number of crafty kids and moms might just whip up their own Lego block or figurine costumes (check Pinterest for inspiration if your little loves Legos!).

4. Zootopia characters
Fans of this hit movie will be donning bunny ears and heading out as star Lt. Judy Hopps, rabbit cop extraordinaire, or choosing a green shirt and tie and spoofing as sneaky fox Nick Wilde.

5. Disney Princesses halloween_princesselena
She’s Disney’s first Latina princess, and the star of the Disney Channel’s popular new show “Elena of Avalor.” If you weren’t already familiar with Princess Elena, you’ll soon recognize her trademark red dress! And Elsa and Anna from Frozen remain popular choices.

6. Dory, Hank, and Nemohank
Absolutely everyone who saw Disney’s Finding Nemo loved this sequel featuring the forgetful Dory, crabby octopus Hank, and sweetiepie Nemo. Toddlers and preschoolers will be rocking these fishy choices this Halloween.

7. Superheroes
Caped (or not) crusaders are forever popular, and this Halloween is no exception. From classics like Captain America, Spidey, and Superman to Thor, Ant-Man, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, there is no shortage of superhero choices. And of course this is not boys only: girls will be rocking Wonder Woman and Catwoman, plus Supergirl, Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, and DC Superhero the masked Katana.
