Tips on Choosing Your Nursery Mobile

The first time I was pregnant, I had grand plans to craft my very own handmade mobile to hang over the baby’s crib. I found a great one on clearance at Babies R Us – it wound up and played played “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” – and for my own special touch I intended to cover the pink fabric with green and replace the pink and red butterflies with something less girly…and then I never got around to it. We still used the mobile, but let’s just say it wasn’t the most masculine accessory in my son’s room.

This time around, I’m dead set on making a mobile for the new little boy on the way, and now with the help of Pinterest I have dozens of great ideas. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Vellum strips from Blush Ink’s Glamour This blog

2. Paper airplanes hanging from a bike wheel from Lauren Clark

3. Paint chip circles from E Tells Tales

4. Paper hot air balloons from Brown Accents

5. Yarn chandelier from Hostess with the Mostess

6. Butterflies from Heartland Paper

7. Felt flower balls from Cake

8. Pinwheels from In the Hushed Hours

9. Paint chips and embroidery hoops from Apartment Therapy

10. Cloth birds from Spool

11. Patterned fabric circles from Sew She Sews

These ones are great inspiration for DIYs, but they’re also available for purchase on Etsy.
