To Tell or Not To Tell…

Fergie and Josh Duhamel are so cute. They just seem so nice and awesomely down-to-earth. That’s why I wasn’t all that surprised to hear that they’ve decided to keep their unborn son’s name to themselves until he arrives.

And they’re not just keeping it from their fans — they’re not even telling their family! About the name, Josh told People.com, “Some people may not like it, some people may think it’s really cool, but we don’t really care — that’s why we’re not telling anybody. We’re not even telling [Fergie’s] mom because we don’t want to hear anything about it. That way you don’t feel like you’re second-guessing yourself. It’s between us — it’s a sacred thing.”

I. Love. That. It’s often a debate between the two parents, to tell or not to tell. Family and friends harass you to share it. It’s not easy to hold it in, but I think it’s worth it. Everyone has an opinion, and even when it’s not a nice one, some people are not afraid to share it with you. But your baby’s name is your choice, and you shouldn’t have to defend it to anyone – or bear the added stress of listening to people object to it.

I agree with Josh and Fergie’s choice. It’s just one less thing they have to deal with, and keeping stress levels low is always good, especially when you’re awaiting the birth of your first child, which can be stressful as is. The actor did give some hints, though, saying, “[The name is] kind of traditional, kind of not. My wife is a little rock and roll, so she’s a little bit more daring in that department than I am. We decided on a name that we both really love and I think will suit this child.” I can’t wait to hear it — and I have a feeling I will like it.

In related news, Fergie recently changed her name. Check out this video to hear more about it — and which other celebs have made (surprising!) name changes over the years!
