What Did Tori and Dean Name Their Baby?

Tori Spelling

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott have welcomed their fourth child together, a second son, Finn Davey McDermott. Tori announced the birth via her website on Thursday. The reality show couple is already parents to Liam, Stella, and Hattie.

Last year, we praised little Hattie’s hip old lady name and thought it might be headed for a comeback (and in fact after a four-decade absence it returned to the list at #993 last year), but rather than being a once-popular throwback, this pick is both current and under the radar. Unlike uber-trendy brother Liam’s name, Finn only appeared in the chart about a decade ago, and has stuck around the middle of the list for a few years.

Perhaps a nod to McDermott’s Irish roots, the name Finn is derived from the Irish name Fionn and means white or fair. A relative newcomer to the top 100 baby names, this short and sweet name is already shared by a few celebrity babies, and was seen most recently last year when actress Autumn Reeser chose it for her son.

People reports that middle name Davey is a family name, which Tori also shares, honoring Tori’s paternal grandfather. Both boys got a name from the Spelling side of the family (son Liam has Tori’s grandfather’s name as a middle).

Sound-alikes Flynn and Quinn are also rising fast, suggesting that this –in sound is trending and we wouldn’t be surprised to see more of Finn in the next year or two.
